Corps Mutations is a strong work. In a way it's like eliminating the old artistic visual codes.
Everything is transmutable in life. In art, too, we have to continually keep clearing out the debris, clearing out the old forms and notions that hold us back.
Art pulls the artist forward in a progression that's irresistible. Since the public is usually slower, sculptures become memories of the past, of what happened for the artist in the past.
By the time people understand what an artist is doing, the work itself is like a souvenir of the past, something that we venerate and keep in a museum.
But visual images can sometimes jar us out of our previous thought patterns.
Many of my works are provocative in this way. They make people stop and reconsider their previous ideas.
